Therme Bucharest (therme Bucuresti, in romanian language) are the largest spa center and entertainment center in Europe.
For me, they are also among the most beautiful ones, with their tropical ambience, a lot of palm trees, countless orchids, and the summer outdoor beach. Moreover, they have the largest botanical garden in Europe (indoor)!

I went to Therme Bucharest twice, during my trips to Romania and I loved the large variety of wellness facilities, the big central pool in The Palm area, the many different saunas with aufguss rituals and, of course, the pool bars to enjoy a nice drink while relaxing 🙂
This is the perfect place to spend en entire day of relax by yourself, with your partner or friends or with the whole family (kids included).

If you want to get there independently, you can check here for the cheapest car rental offers in Bucharest.
By cab, Uber or Bolt
To get to the spa you can take a cab or better yet an Uber or Bolt.
I took an Uber from the city center and paid about 15 euros for a 40-minute ride.
Uber and Bolt in Bucharest are quite cheap and there are plenty of cars available at all hours, so for me it was the best way to get around the city.
By bus
To get to the spa in Bucharest you can also use the bus. Route STB 442 runs to the spa and also passes through the airport, in case you want to visit on the day you arrive in the city or depart.
For the bus schedule, you can look at the picture below.

Bucharest Spa schedules (2024)
Therme Bucharest is open every day:
-Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m,
-Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to midnight,
-Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
On holidays, on the other hand, you’d better check the hours on the spa’s official website first.

Bucharest spa prices
There are several options with different prices to enter the Bucharest spa.
If you have the whole day at your disposal, you can buy a full day pass or opt for the 3-hour, 4 1/2-hour or 3-hour evening passes.
The spa consists of 3 different areas and the cost of the ticket varies depending on which ones you are interested in.
General full day tickets with access to all the areas cost about 37 euros.
Once you buy the ticket, you will get an electronic bracelet that you can use it to open and close the locker and to access all the therm’s areas included in your admission.
For the full list of prices, you can check the official Bucharest Spa website: https://therme.ro/en/prices
4.5-hour spa entrance + transfer package
If you want to visit the spa in Bucharest without worrying about how to get there, I recommend booking a comfortable package that includes admission to the facility + A/R transfer directly from your hotel in Bucharest.
This way, the transfer will pick you up at your hotel to take you comfortably to enjoy a few hours of relaxation and then pick you up on the way back to take you back to your hotel.
This spa ticket includes priority skip-the-line access, is valid for 4 1/2 hours and allows access to all 3 areas of the complex. I recommend it for those who prefer convenience and don’t want any worries.

The areas of Therme Bucharest
The wellness complex features 37000 square meters and it is divided into 3 areas:
Galaxy
Area for the whole family with indoor and also outdoor pools. The area has a big indoor wave pool, 17 water slides (which are sooo much fun), a relaxation area with amazing hydromassage beds, a nice Feng Shui Park and a restaurant. Good news for families traveling to Romania with kids: Galaxy area welcomes kids of all ages!
The Palm
A beautiful area that mimics the environment of a tropical island. Palm trees, indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, pool bar, whirlpool, loungers and hammocks for relaxing. You cam choose among the pool with bar and smaller mineral pools around it.
The water temperature is 36 degrees, while the outside temperature is 30 degrees all year long, so it always feels like summer! Minimum age for entry is 14 years old. Kids under 3 years old are allowed.
Summer outdoor beach
In The Palm area, during summer you can enjoy the largest urban sandy beach in Europe.
It is a great place to fight summer heat in Bucharest without going to the seaside. With its tropical vibes, white sands, palm trees and sun loungers, it really feesl like being in the Carribean!
Here, you can sunbath or enjoy the outdoor swimming pools, have a drink right in the water or in the other bars next to the beach. The access to the beach is included in the regular ticket, with no additional cost.

Elysium
This magnificent wellness area features different themed saunas, relaxation areas, a pool, showers, massage areas, pool bar and a fusion restaurant: Mango Tree.
In this area you can try saunas such as the Himalaya sauna, with himalayan salt, the 90 degree Bavaria sauna, the amazonian sauna and, one of my favorite: the cinema sauna. Here, you can detox and relax while you enjoy a nice tv show or documentary.
Minimum age for entry is 14 years old.
What I liked about Therme Bucharest
As a big fan of palms, clearly The Palm area made me feel immediately at home.
As soon as I entered, also, there was a fitness class in the indoor pool. If you like physical activity like me, you can’t miss a class in the spa pool!
There are several, with free admission and I love doing water aerobics!
The bar in the indoor pool offers cocktails of different kinds, wine and beer.
From the windows of The Palm’s great room you can see outside, and at sunset it is especially impressive.
The outdoor pools with whirlpools also are a beautiful place to stargaze while soaking in the pleasant warm thermal water.
In the Galaxy area there are very comfortable loungers with heated infrared lights where you can rest.
Among the saunas in this area I really liked the cinema one where I watched a documentary about penguins, the only way to make me last more than 2 minutes in those high temperatures😊

What to bring to Therme Bucharest
A cap is not compulsory for the spa in Bucharest, but if you have long hair bring a rubber band to tie it up.
At the entrance you will be given the bracelet that you need for the locker and to pay for drinks at the bars and restaurants. If you need towels, you need to rent them or bring them from home.
I therefore recommend that you bring a towel or bathrobe (preferably microfiber, which takes up less space) and slippers or flip-flops, as well as your swimsuit, of course.
If you are coming directly from the airport or are headed there to depart, you can put your luggage (of the carry-on kind, no larger) directly in your locker.
Food Menu and restaurants of Therme Bucharest
If you want to have a snack or dine in Therme Bucharest, you have quite a few options, at a great price (cheaper than many prices in Bucharest city center).
You can choose among 3 different restaurants located in the premises: fusion restaurant Mango Tree, international restaurant Humboldt (with a lot of options from sushi to fish, meat, pasta and middle east local cuisine) and Greens restaurant, in Galaxy area.
Besides that, there are several snack bars and vendors and pool bars. So, I am sure you won’t starve at all 🙂
