best beach clubs in South Tenerife
Diana Bancale blogger

A holiday on a vibrant and fun island like Tenerife isn’t complete without spending at least one day at one of its trendiest beach clubs.

The south of Tenerife offers a wide range of options when it comes to beach clubs, complete with sunbeds, umbrellas, DJ sets, and usually a bar and restaurant. In some cases, there’s no direct beach access, but you can still cool off in a pool.

In this article, I’ll share my 9 favorite beach clubs in South Tenerife. Let me know which one you decide to try!

Oa Beach Club

Av. Francisco Andrade Fumero, 1, 38660 Playa de la Américas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

One of the best beach clubs in Las Americas is Oa Beach Club. It’s located right on the oceanfront in a spot well known among local surfers. While it doesn’t have direct beach access due to the rocky coastline, it features a natural rock pool and an artificial beach with sunbeds, balinese beds, and umbrellas.

Oa Beach Club Tenerife

The vibe is super chill, there’s always music with a DJ, and you can enjoy food and drinks either on your lounger or at the terrace bar upstairs.

If you’re a fan of ocean sunsets, this is one of the best places to watch the sun go down in South Tenerife.

Monkey Beach Club

Av. Rafael Puig Lluvina, 3, 38660 Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Monkey Beach Club in Tenerife is one of the island’s most famous beach venues, known for its lively atmosphere and exclusive events. Every week it hosts different parties and music events, attracting both locals and travelers. Every Friday, don’t miss the Utopia Pool Party, from 12 PM to 6 PM, a unique experience with great music and ocean views.

Le Club

Urbanizacion Playa Fañabe, 3, 38660 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Located on the long sandy beach of Fañabé, this iconic beach club is famous especially for its popular weekend parties.

It’s set right on the beach with direct sea access and offers balinese beds, a bar, and a restaurant. As often happens in Tenerife, you pay a fee that includes the use of the sunbeds and a food/drink credit equal to the fee paid. So, you can spend your credit on meals and drinks.

Stick around until sunset for some dancing to the DJ’s music and enjoy the stunning view of the sun dipping below the horizon.

Fiji Beach Club

Playa Fañabé sn, 38650, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Also on Fañabé beach is another much-loved beach club: Fiji. Here too, you’ll find balinese beds, a bar, a restaurant, and weekend parties with DJ sets.

Kaluna Beach Club

CC Centro Costa Local, 79, 38670 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

A favorite among young tourists, Kaluna Beach Club sits along the oceanfront promenade in Costa Adeje. Though not directly on the beach, it offers beautiful Atlantic views, especially at sunset.

Kaluna is well-known for its lively events and poolside parties. You can spend the day lounging in the sun, enjoying music, live shows, drinks, food, and hot tubs.

Las Rocas Beach Club

C. Gran Bretaña, 5, 38660 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Recently renovated, this gorgeous beach club is in Costa Adeje along the pedestrian promenade by the ocean. That means: amazing views guaranteed!

The club features several pools, umbrellas, sunbeds, and balinese beds, some even with sea views. It’s best to book in advance, especially on weekends, as it can get quite busy.

As usual, you pay a fee that includes the use of beds and credit for food and drinks.
Want something casual? Grab a bite at the beach bar while sunbathing, or opt for the stylish restaurant serving seafood and meat specialties with sea views.

Roca Blanca

One of the most elegant beach clubs in Los Cristianos, located along the oceanfront promenade. While it doesn’t have direct beach access, it faces Playa de los Tarajales, so you’ll still enjoy sea views from your lounger.

There’s a bar-restaurant area and a beach club section with loungers, poufs, Balinese beds, and a swimming pool. DJs often play here, creating a relaxed and stylish vibe.

Roca Blanca beach club Los Cristianos

Bahia

In the peaceful area of El Palm Mar lies this lovely oceanfront beach club with ethnic-style décor. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful and well-kept beach clubs in South Tenerife.

It has a spacious bar and restaurant area with ocean-view tables on a terrace, as well as tables where you can dine with your feet in the sand. There’s always music, live or from a DJ.

Bahia Beach Club Tenerife
The beach area features sunbeds and balinese beds on the sand, and there’s also beach access just a few meters away.
It’s great both during the day and in the evening at sunset for a drink with music and the sound of waves in the background.

Coqueluche

P.º La Pedrera, 38679 La Enramada, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

On the black sand beach of La Enramada in La Caleta, you’ll find this historic beach club, one of my personal favorites. I usually come here for a drink at sunset, especially since there’s live music every evening.

coqueluche beach club La Caleta Tenerife

Sunbeds and umbrellas are set right on the beach, and the vibe is easygoing and super relaxed. You can order drinks and food right from your lounger or sit at the tables near the bar. Another perfect sunset spot!

Casa Playa

C. el Espigón, 38650 Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

To me, this is the best beach club in Los Cristianos. It’s located at the far end of Playa Las Vistas (one of the best beaches in Tenerife South), right next to the harbor and a large paid parking lot, very handy if you’re driving.

The ethnic decor reminds me of some beach clubs in Bali. There’s a bar/restaurant where the food is quite good, a section with high tables and stools, and a sandy area with big cushions.

Here, you can relax in the sun with a drink, and in the evening, the DJ turns it into a proper party. A beautiful spot, definitely worth visiting!

25 traditional food to eat and drink in Baja California (2026)

traditional food to eat in Baja California
Diana Bancale blogger

Baja California, a paradise for food lovers

Baja California isn’t just a magical place where the desert meets the ocean, it’s also a true food lover’s paradise.
Before my trip, I was really curious to try the local Mexican cuisine and see how different it was from the “Mexican” dishes we usually find in restaurants across Europe. The answer? Incredibly different, more varied, richer, and far more authentic.

tacos gobernador baja california

In Baja California, you’ll be spoiled for choice: street food, fresh seafood, meat dishes, beans, tropical fruit, spicy salsas, and bold, vibrant flavors.

In this guide, I’m sharing some of the most popular Baja California dishes I tried during my trip. I’m sure there are many more, so if you know other specialties from the region, feel free to drop them in the comments!

Traditional Baja California Cuisine – Must-try dishes

Tacos

fish tacos Baja California
An absolute institution in Baja California. These are soft, round corn or flour tortillas (you’ll usually be asked which you prefer) topped with your choice of filling.
They’re eaten strictly with your hands, folded in half. Fillings range from meat to seafood, vegetables, or cheese.

The most popular in Baja California Sur are tacos gobernador(shrimp with cheese) and tacos al pastor (pork).
You can enjoy them as they are or add guacamole or other salsas, which you’ll usually find on restaurant tables. Tacos are a quick, tasty, and budget-friendly option.

Aguachile

A traditional Mexican dish made with raw seafood (usually shrimp) marinated in lime juice, cucumber, red onion, and green chili. It’s spicier than ceviche, light, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

Ceviche

ceviche mexican recipe
Raw fish (often tuna, octopus, or shrimp) marinated in lime juice with tomato, onion, and coriander. Only order it where you’re confident the seafood is fresh. If you’re not a fan of onion, you might want to skip both ceviche and aguachile.

Tostadas de mariscos

A crispy corn tortilla topped with raw or cooked seafood, sauces, and avocado.

Esquites de elote

elotes mexican street food
Corn kernels cooked in broth and served in a cup with butter, mayonnaise, cheese, lime, and chili. A very popular Mexican street food, often sold from small carts.

Quesadilla

A tortilla filled with cheese, sometimes with mushrooms, vegetables, or seafood. Simple, tasty, and inexpensive. Often served in small portions, so you’ll usually get more than one.

Fajitas

Strips of marinated meat (or vegetables in the vegetarian version) stir-fried with peppers and onions, usually served with a tortilla.

Enchiladas

Rolled tortillas filled with meat, vegetables, or cheese, covered with red or green sauce and cheese, then baked.

Nachos

nachos baja california
Crispy corn chips served as an appetizer, usually with guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and spicy sauces.

Totopos

Fried corn or flour tortillas cut into triangles – similar to nachos – served with various dips.

Papas rellenas

Boiled potatoes served in foil, filled with cheese, vegetables, or meat. Crispy on the outside, soft inside.

Burrito

A large flour tortilla wrapped around rice, beans, vegetables, and sauces. Hearty and filling.

Frijoles

Beans (especially black beans) are a staple in Mexican cuisine, served at almost every meal, even breakfast. The “frijoles refritos” version is a thick bean purée eaten on its own, with tortillas, or as a side dish.

Gorditas

gorditas mexican food
Corn flour patties cooked on a griddle, similar to Venezuelan arepas, filled with cheese, meat, or vegetables. Affordable and packed with flavor.

Nopales

The pads of the prickly pear cactus, with spines removed. Popular in salads, soups, stews, or grilled. Nutritious and full of vitamins and minerals.

Tamales

Corn dough steamed in leaves, with savory (fish, vegetables) or sweet fillings.

Birria

A Mexican meat stew cooked in a spiced broth. It’s not typical of Baja but you can easily find it in several restaurants.

Almejas chocolatas

Large clams typical of Baja, grilled with butter and lime. The name comes from their chocolate-brown shells, not the flavor.

Queso fundido

Melted cheese served in an earthenware dish, often with mushrooms, accompanied by soft flour tortillas. A dream for cheese lovers.

Fruit with lime and chili

Pineapple, mango, and other fruits served with chili powder and lime: a very common Mexican snack with a sweet-spicy kick.

What to Drink in Baja California

Aguas de fruta

Fresh fruit drinks with water and sugar. Tamarind, hibiscus, and mango are among the most popular flavors.

Wines from Valle de Guadalupe

Baja California’s main wine region, producing excellent reds and whites.

Local craft beers

IPAs, lagers, amber ales, and stouts made in the region. You can enjoy a variety of more popular beers such as Tecate, Dos Equis, Sol and Corona.

Margarita

My new favorite Mexican cocktail: tequila shaken with lime juice and triple sec, served in a glass with a salted rim.

margarita drink Mexico

Tequila

Made from the blue agave plant.

Mezcal

Another agave-based spirit, with a distinctive smoky flavor, sipped slowly as a digestif.

What not to eat (or  consume with caution)

To make the most of your trip and enjoy the delicious Mexican cuisine, I recommend traveling with a good travel insurance insurance, like the one I use from Heymondo, which offers 24/7 assistance, high medical expense coverage limits, no upfront medical bill.
We all hope everything goes smoothly, but even something as simple as food poisoning could ruin your holiday and lead to costly medical bills without proper travel insurance.

Tap water – Always opt for bottled water, even for brushing your teeth if you’re sensitive.

Ice – In non-touristy places, check if it’s made with purified water

Raw vegetables – Avoid in low-traffic eateries if you’re unsure how they were washed.

Raw seafood – Only if you’re certain of freshness and refrigeration.

Unpasteurized dairy – Especially risky in hot weather.

Street food from empty stalls – Follow the “if there’s a line, it’s probably good” rule.

Very spicy sauces – Test with a small amount first

(especially if you are not used to very spicy food)

Eating in Baja California is one of the most exciting parts of the trip. From tacos and fresh seafood to tequila and street food, the variety is endless.

Have you tried any of these dishes or do you know other specialties from Baja California? Share your experience in the comments!

Is greek food good?

Absolutely! Greek cuisine is part of the Mediterranean diet: simple yet full of flavor. Even a humble greek salad paired with warm pita bread becomes a satisfying and delicious meal.

Greek dishes often feature olive oil, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, legumes, and plenty of herbs. There are many vegetarian options, plus an abundance of meat-based meals (especially lamb) and fresh seafood like squid and octopus.

top traditonal greek foods and drinks

What is the most famous greek dish?

That depends on your taste! I’ve been pescatarian since 2013, so I skip the meat-based dishes. But in general, the most iconic Greek meals are moussaka, a layered eggplant and minced meat casserole—and grilled octopus, often seen drying under the sun like laundry on a line, a classic image of the greek islands.

I have been to Slovenia several times and had the opportunity to try traditional food from different regions of the country. In fact, despite being a small country, the gastronomy is very varied depending on the area you are in.

Slovenian cuisine is influenced by both Mediterranean, Alpine and Balkan influences. I was amazed from my first trip by its authenticity and use of local products.

Vegetarian dishes

Poppy seeds oil

The most used oil in slovenian recipes.

Frika

A simple but very good Slovenian recipe made with potatoes, eggs, butter and cheese (cooked together as a kind of omelet) and usually accompanied by polenta. It is the first slovenian dish I tried during my first trip into the country 🙂

Slovenian local cheese

In such a green and forested country, there is no shortage of pastures and consequently a good production of local cheeses. They are usually accompanied by fine Slovenian honey, and there are several types. I recommend trying tolminc, a semi-hard cheese from the Soca (Soča) valley; mohant, with an intense flavor; and bovški sir, a tasty goat cheese.

Slovenian honey

Another top product to eat in Slovenia (and also to take home as a souvenir) is Slovenian honey. There are 3 different kind of honey: honey from the Kocevje forest, honey from the Kras region, and Slovenian honey. I have it at home right now (bought during my last 5-day tour of Slovenia) and I eat it with cheese or inside the yogurt.

Polenta

As in many parts of northern Italy, polenta is widely used in Slovenia as a side dish or main course. Made from corn or barley flour, it is one of the cornerstone dishes of typical Slovenian cuisine.

Fusi pasta

Typical slovenian food from the area of Istria. They are a kind of pasta made with eggs, flour and salt and are shaped like garganelli. I tried an excellent dish made with fusi with butter and asparagus at a restaurant near Koper

Eating truffles in Slovenia

The forests of Slovenian Istria are an area very rich in truffles, both white and black. I tried the ones from Di Kappa Tartufi, during a wonderful tasting with products such as truffle cream, with habanero and without and a surprising tuna carpaccio with truffle shavings, parmigiano cheese and arugula. An unusual combination at first glance but actually good!

Belokranjska Pogača

This is a savory flatbread made with flour, water, yeast and salt sprinkled with salt and cumin. Great as appetizer, with main course and with soups.

Kruh

A typical dish of Slovenian cuisine is this whole-wheat bread, prepared in various forms including the braid shape.

Soups

Soups in Slovenia are very popular, especially in winter when temperatures drop. There are different kind of soups: vegetable-only, meat or fish based.

typical slovenian soup

I tasted one thick soup made with wild garlic and another made with wild asparagus. Soups are usually eaten as a starter.

Meat dishes

Bujta Repa

This is a typical Slovenian meat dish originary from the northeast of the country. Made from pork, it is made by boiling the fatty parts of the pork together with turnip.

Mavželj

Another typical Slovenian pork dish, to be combined with polenta and onions. Typical of Carinthia.

Kranjska klobasa

In Slovenia, in addition to meat, people eat several local sausages, such as Carniolan sausage, smoked and flavored with garlic and pepper.

Prsut

Another popular cold cut in Slovenia is prsut, a cured ham typical of the Karst area and eaten either as an appetizer or during aperitifs or wine tastings.

Idrijski žlikrofi

Ravioli filled with potatoes, bacon, spices and onion, usually accompanied by goulash or another meat sauce.

Jota

One of Slovenia’s most famous traditional dishes is jota, which was born as a poor dish made with leftovers. It is prepared with meat, sauerkraut, potatoes and beans and it’s perfect for colder months.

Gulash

Gulash is actually a typical Hungarian dish but it is also very popular in typical Slovenian cuisine and became part of the best food of Slovenia. It is a stew of meat (beef or wild boar) cooked with carrots, leeks and tomato and often accompanied by polenta.

Eating fish in Slovenia

Although the majority of dishes in Slovenian cuisine are meat products, in coastal regions facing Adriatic sea, you can also taste seafood and fish delicacies.

Here are some of the main ones.

Brodet

This is actually a Croatian recipe but it is also widely eaten in Slovenia. It is a fish soup made with shellfish, garlic and parsley, accompanied by croutons.

Codfish

In the coastal areas of Slovenia, cod is also eaten, prepared in various recipes with polenta and also with truffles.

Soča river Trout

A must-eat dish if you are in the Soča Valley area is trout, either grilled or baked. It is usually cooked simply with garlic and lemon.

Slovenian street food

In addition to typical dishes you can find in restaurant menus, in Slovenia you also will find a lot of street food. Here are some street foods to try in the country.

Kranjska Klobasa

Pork sausage with garlic and spices, usually served with bread, cheese and chips.

Burek

Savory filo pastry pie filled with meat and cheese or even just cheese (I love it). It is a typical dish of Balkan cuisine and is very similar to Greek tiropita.

Cevapcici

Very famous spicy and spicy minced meatballs.

What to eat in Slovenia – desserts

When it comes to desserts, Slovenia has a wide choice. Among the main ingredients of Slovenian desserts are cottage cheese, honey, eggs and flour.

Krofi

Fried doughnuts with a hint of lemon usually filled with jam.

Prekmurska gibanica

Among Slovenia’s most famous desserts, you have to try this cake made with shortcrust pastry, cottage cheese, walnuts and poppy seeds.

Potica

The classic Slovenian holiday dessert, usually prepared for special occasions and festive occasions. The original recipe is a sponge cake roll filled with chocolate, walnuts and orange peel, although there are several regional variations.

Bled cream cake

Rising to the podium of my favorite desserts in life, this cake with cream and mille-feuille typical of Lake Bled is a real treat! The best and original one is made in Park Hotel, right in front of Bled lake!

Bled cream cake Slovenia

Drinks and spirits: what to drink in Slovenia

Drinking in company, after dinner or to spend the evening, is a tradition in Slovenia. Here are the most popular drinks you will find in the country.

Grappa

Drunk both as an aperitif and after dinner, Slovenia produces several different grappa. The most famous are the one made with plums and the one with wild blueberries.

Beer

The most loved drink of Slovenia. The most famous is Lasko beer, brewed by the historic brewery in the town of Lasko since 1825.

Slovenian wine

Not everyone knows this, but Slovenia has an abundant and rich production of wines, since the 5th century B.C. Among the wines I got to enjoy, during the stop in Slovenian Istria (western Slovenia part), I really liked Malvasia and Refosco.

Typical Slovenian breakfast

Typical Slovenian breakfast is generally quite light and simple with ingredients such as whole wheat bread, butter, honey, jams, and milk.

How much does it cost to eat in Slovenia?

10 years ago when I first visited Slovenia I remember being surprised at how cheap it was to eat in the country. Clearly, as all over Europe, prices have changed and you can hardly find the convenience of years ago. However, it depends on the type of restaurant you choose (trattoria, international restaurant, fast food), what you want to eat, and where you are (Ljubljana is more expensive than rural areas, for example).

In general, a dinner in a mid-range restaurant for 2 people can cost about 50 euros, with 3 courses.

TIP: Restaurant Week

Twice a year (Spring and Fall) Slovenia holds “Restaurant Week,” a 10-day event during which some of the best restaurants offer special menus available at a reduced price. This is also a great opportunity to try restaurants that would perhaps be too expensive at other times.

On Slovenian tourist board website you can find out more about upcoming dates: https://www.slovenia.info/en/stories/restaurant-week-top-cuisine-enjoyed-my-way

Zì Antò Restaurant – Punta Tegge

One of my favorite restaurants where to eat sea view in La Maddalena. It is located near Punta Tegge beach, which I particularly love because it is sheltered by granite rocks and has crystal clear, calm water.

The outdoor dining room has tables with a sea view; the cuisine is mostly seafood, with a very friendly and welcoming staff. If you go for a quick lunch, you have to try their famous “bruschetta”.

Vineria Ninì

Very nice and informal place in the center of La Maddalena, great place for aperitifs and to taste typical Sardinian cold cuts and cheeses accompanied by a good wine list.

Summer evenings have live music and concerts.

Locanda del mirto – Punta della gatta

A very quaint restaurant inland from La Maddalena, one of the best places to try meat and local cuisine. Here you can choose from a Sardinian land and sea menu in an intimate restaurant with stone walls and wooden furnishings.

You can eat both inside and in the beautiful outdoor garden, where there are some small gazebos (better to book in advance) where you can eat if you are looking for a private and intimate atmosphere.

Blue Bay Restaurant – Nido d’aquila

Beautiful restaurant in Nido d’aquila, with a 10-star view of the sea. In fact, the tables are arranged on a bright outdoor terrace that, like a stage, overlooks the water.

best restaurants La Maddalena

I have been there once for aperitifs at sunset and once for lunch, after the beach. The dishes are very good, well presented and innovative, mostly fish-based. I tried a cuttlefish tagliatelle and codfish, both of which were excellent.

Vucciria Restaurant

If you are a lover of Sicilian cuisine (I am big fun!), you cannot miss this Sicilian restaurant in La Maddalena. It is in the center of town, conveniently located near the port where the ferries disembark and the bus stop.

It has an indoor dining room and outdoor tables in the square and prepares Sicilian cuisine, as well as having an irresistible deli corner and typical desserts.

Everything here speaks of Sicily, from the decor, to the tables, to the music. They also deliver to your home with Just Eat!

Perla Blu Ristorante

Very cozy restaurant with a beautiful terrace overlooking the small harbor of Cala Gavetta, where to eat in La Maddalena sea view.

The menu is large and varied and you can choose from several fish dishes but also meat and a vegan menu.

I tried a mussel soup, excellent grilled pecorino cheese and delicious spaghetti with mussel pesto, cherry tomatoes and pistachios (one of the chef’s specialties, I was told).

The best way to make sure to enjoy this restaurant is to book on advance, especially during crowded summer months.

Magreta Restaurant

I have been several times to this restaurant in the center of the island that prepares seafood and Mediterranean cuisine. In particular, I really enjoyed the seafood entrees.

In high season I recommend that you book your table in advance because it is always quite full.

Osteria Da Liò

Historic osteria on the island, where there is a cozy, family atmosphere. Always open from lunch to aperitifs to dinner and after dinner.

It has an outdoor garden for those who want to eat outside and is a particularly popular place for those who want to have an aperitif in La Maddalena.

On summer evenings there is live music until late, for those who love the nightlife.

Sette Otto Pesca – Cala Gavetta

Located in Cala Gavetta, across from the marina, this restaurant offers fresh seafood and Mediterranean cuisine.

It doesn’t go unnoticed and in fact inspired me from the first moment I walked past it thanks to the white and blue colors of the restaurant, which are somewhat reminiscent of a Greek island atmosphere.

Meet Pub La Maddalena

In the central Piazza Umberto I, the heart of La Maddalena, where there are stalls and events, is this sandwich shop where I have been several times.

Not only sandwiches, but also boards, grilled meats, fries, side dishes and salads. Friendly service and great location, perfect for eating in La Maddalena while spending little.

Stazzo il rifugio dei peccatori

Among the best restaurants in La Maddalena and certainly among the most characteristic. It is the first stazzo in La Maddalena (a hub of rural life for shepherds and farmers for centuries) and is located in the countryside, surrounded by myrtle forests.

The atmosphere, as you might imagine, is very rustic, with a fireplace, wooden furniture and farm tools on the walls. The menu is typical Sardinian based on excellent products.

Restaurant l’Agriturismo

I went to this agriturismo, which is located near the Piras village, on a rare rainy day, so I ate inside (but there are also outdoor spaces).

The ambiance is warm and cozy, and here you can enjoy home cooked, typical Sardinian dishes, and meat specialties from the wood-fired oven and barbecue (you can also find Sardinian porcetto)

Neapolitan pizzeria offering tasty and special pizzas. You can choose from classic pizzas and gourmet pizzas as well as starters, first courses and second courses.

If you don’t feel like pizza, they also offer a wide variety of meat and fish dishes. You can eat in the main dining room (indoor) or in the outdoor terrace.

Cala portese beach club – Caprera island

In Caprera, on the beach, there is this elegant beach club. Cala portese is a magical place on a white pristine beach, where you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner, cuddled by sea breeze.

The kitchen offers sushi and Mediterranean cuisine. Perfect if you want to eat sea view in Caprera in a private and refined atmosphere.

Puffer fish

If you love seafood and fried fish, don’t miss this restaurant-friggitoria. I loved it, especially the crispy fried fish and seafood entrees, which are one of my favorite things ever.

You can eat directly on site or order take-out. Fresh ingredients and nice service are the key of the succcess of this restaurant.

I mille paninoteca – Caprera island

On a trip to Caprera, the island where Giuseppe Garibaldi was confinated, you will find beautiful pine trees forests and a scenic road between the trees.

I recommend stopping at this outdoor sandwich bar with tables scattered throughout a beautiful pine forest where you can cool off among hammocks and wooden tables during hot summer days.

The place is very relaxing the sandwich menu wide and tasty.

Il gabbiano Restaurant

Il Gabbiano is the restaurant of the hotel of the same name located in La Maddalena, near Punta Nera beach. I really like it for two reasons: it makes a very good Neapolitan pizza and it has tables that are practically almost on the water, overlooking the beautiful sea of the archipelago.

where to eat pizza in la maddalena island

I recommend making a reservation, because it is often full, and ask for one of the tables on the outdoor terrace. In addition to pizza, the kitchen offers several seafood dishes (and not just Mediterranean cuisine).

Risto Bar il Baleno

This is one of my favorite places to eat (or even have a drink) in La Maddalena. The closer I am to the sea, the better off I am, and here the restaurant tables are right on a pier overlooking the Punta Nera pier.

You can eat with the roar of the water in the background and admire boats and dinghies docked in front of the restaurant. I don’t know about you, but it really relaxes me.

restuarant sea view la maddalena island

The cuisine is simple but good and offers a little bit of everything, from sandwiches and salads to fried and grilled fish. You can go there for lunch between beaches, for dinner for a more romantic atmosphere, or even for aperitifs or after-dinner drinks. In addition to the beauty of the place, I also find the prices quite affordable compared to the island average.

Zeus Faber

Restaurant-gastronomy with few but very good dishes, based on fish and gourmet sandwiches.

Great location, in La Maddalena town, centrally located and on an elevated terrace surrounded by plants. I tried some excellent fish tacos here, an equally good fish fry and a cod parmigiana.

Parma is known for its great food and local delicacies: from Parma ham to horse meat, from parmigiano reggiano to tortelli, culatello, spalla cotta and so much more. To taste the real flavor, you need to visit Parma and try one of the local restaurants.

I have been lived in Parma for the last 20 years and I love to dine out, so, in my humble opinion, I can have a word in this topic 🙂

Anyway, let me know your thoughts at the end of the post 🙂

Typical cuisine in Parma

The typical cuisine of Parma has a long and excellent tradition. Parma’s typical dishes are rooted in Emilia Romagna culture, which is why you will often find meat and animal fat products on the tables of the best restaurants in Parma. Over time, however, tradition has blended with innovation and resulted in imaginative, colorful, flavorful dishes.

local cuisine of Parma tortelli

In this article you will find my personal ranking of the 11 best restaurants in Parma where you can savor all the excellent food of Emilia, considered one of the best in Italy (and in the world).

Keep reading and take note 🙂

Best restaurants to eat in Parma

Trattoria Corrieri

One of my favorite restaurant in Parma when I feel like eating local food or when family and friends came to visit. The dining room is traditional and simple, makes you immediately feel like home. It is located right in the heart of Parma, close to Via Mazzini. Here you can taste the traditional menu with parmigiano reggiano and cold cuts with torta fritta as starter.

Then, you need to try typical tortelli with spinach, potatoes and pumpkin and end the meal with cavallo pesto (raw horse meat, famous dish in Parma) or punta di vitello.

If you don’t eat meat, like me, you can skip directly to the beautiful desserts. I strongly suggest Torta Susanna, one of my favorite cakes ever, with ricotta cheese and chocolate.

 Trattoria del Tribunale

Another nice choice if you want to dine in the center of Parma. This historical restaurant is close to Via Farini, the most famous street for aperitivo in the center of Parma. The ideal plan is to start with an Aperol Spritz in one of the cafè and then go to dinner at Trattoria del Tribunale.

The menu offers traditional food of Parma with fresh pasta (tortelli), cold cuts, meats and a good wine list. If you already tried tortelli, taste the wonderful potato gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and nuts or risotto alla parmigiana.

Trattoria ai due platani

Trattoria ai due platani is a must try in this food tour I am taking you 🙂
The restaurant is in Coloreto, a few minutes by car from the center of Parma, in a nice place surrounded by greenery and plane trees (which give the name to the restaurant).

Founded in 1920, it is one of the oldest restaurants in Parma and considered one of the finest, The menu includes the best cured meats, fresh pasta, gnocchi, lasagna, a good variety of meat and home made gelato.

Ristorante Cocchi

This restaurant is located in the area called “Oltretorrente” meaning “the other side of the river”. It’s not far from Parco Ducale and from Parma University.

Cocchi serves local food of Parma with fresh ingredients and a great selection of wines. The environment is very cozy and perfect for a romantic dinner accompanied by a delicious meal. Here you can taste traditional food of Parma.

local cuisine Parma

Ristorante La Forchetta

I like this restaurant because, besides traditional food from Emilia, it offers also a veriety of seafood plates.

I also like the location, in a elegant historical building near Battistero and Duomo di Parma. Here, local cuisine has a modern touch, creating delicious recipes. Also, you have to try the raw fish plate and capesante gratinate (scallops au gratin).

Ristorante Il Trovatore

Homemade fresh filled pasta and parmigiano reggiano but also gazpacho with burrata and other contemporary plates: this restaurant has it all.

If you like wine, you can choose among a nice list with natural wines and a selection from many italian regions. You can book a table or you can taste the great food at home with takeout orders.

Angiol d’Or

Tradition and creativity are the main ingredients of this well known fine restaurant, definitely one of the best restaurants in Parma. It is located in the center of Parma, with a nice view of Duomo di Parma, so the location is a 10!

Besides typical Parma food, you can taste some seafood specialties such as ricciola fish and octopus. If you like vegetables don’t miss a nice starter with giardiniera, a mix of sweet and sour vegetables.

Osteria dello zingaro

Small and cozy restaurant in the very center of Parma. Easygoing environment and great food are the keywords. You can go here to taste local food or for a quick lunch with large salad bowls. The menu has a good variety and you can also find vegetarian choices (which elsewhere is not always granted).

Monte delle Vigne

Monte delle Vigne is a winery located in the hills of Ozzano Taro at the foot of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The white and red grape vineyards are the real jewels of this winery, which for the past few years has become the perfect location for Summer Aperistreets.

monte delle vigne winery Parma

Since June, in fact, Monte delle Vigne has been organizing aperitifs and themed evenings where it is possible to eat street food and taste fine wines while watching the stars from the vineyard rows.

The Castle Tavern inside the Torrechiara Castle (Langhirano, Parma)

Inside the Torrechiara Castle in Langhirano, the cuisine of the Taverna del Castello will win you over with the refinement of its traditional dishes.

Tradition, again, looks to local products and the seasonality of raw materials. But what will win you over most of all is the magnificence of the view from the castle walls, from where you can enjoy an excellent aperitivo at sunset time.

A potato flan with ham and mozzarella, or provola and various cured meats. The crust is made crunchy by oven-baked breadcrumbs. A simple but very tasty dish. My grandmother always made it for me…

Buffalo mozzarella, made with the milk of buffaloes from Campania region, is a unique fresh cheese. Remember that when it is fresh it should NEVER be put in the fridge but kept outside, inside its serum.

mozzarella di bufala

Only after a day ot two, when it is no longer fresh, we store it in the fridge and use it for cooking.

Cow’s milk mozzarella is called fior di latte, while its smoked variant is provola. Both delicious. You can eat them as appetizer, as main dish with vegetables or as a second plate after a nice pasta dish.

I haven’t eaten meat for years but salsiccia e friarielli (sausage with typical neapolitan broccoli leaves) is a pillar of Neapolitan cuisine. Friarielli are are stewed in a pan with oil and garlic.

They make a great side dish.

One of my favourite dish ever. It is a pizza dough filled with escarole, cooked together with olives, capers and pine nuts which are previously browned together.

Where to eat in Naples? Discover the best restaurants in Naples: from the typical “trattorias” to seafood restaurants where you can eat with sea view in Naples.

This is a question many people ask me, knowing that I am from Naples, especially in recent years when tourism has boomed.
In addition to Neapolitan pizza (my favorite dish, food of the gods), Neapolitan cuisine offers a wide variety of dishes, made with fresh and local ingredients such as tomato sauce, olive oil and mozzarella di bufala. from a wide variety of appetizers to first courses, to tasty main courses and side dishes.
To try these specialties, either you know a Neapolitan mother/grandmother, or I recommend going to eat at one of the many typical restaurants in Naples.
It is difficult to make a choice but below I have indicated some of the most famous and popular ones.

When a tourist asks a Neapolitan “where to eat in Naples,” one of the first answers is Trattoria da Nennella, which not surprisingly is one of the most famous restaurants in the center of Naples.
The cuisine is true Neapolitan, with traditional first courses such as pasta with potatoes and provolone cheese and pasta and beans. The atmosphere is very folksy with the waiters speaking in Neapolitan using joking and often quite “colorful” expressions. If you come to eat at this restaurant, be warned, it is important to be able to take a joke!

In the Vomero neighborhood is this family-run typical Neapolitan trattoria, established in 2012.
This is a great place to eat typical traditional dishes you’d eat on a Sunday lunch at your grandmother’s house.
From the giant potato crocchè to the Neapolitan ragout (cooked strictly for hours and hours on low heat…), from delicious pasta with potatoes and provolone cheese to spaghetti alla Nerano. In addition, at Scugnizzi’s you can also try an excellent pizza (margherita and not only), soft and digestible!

One of the most famous historical restaurants in Naples is “da Mimì alla ferrovia.”

It is a historic eatery, founded in 1943, during the war, by Ida and Emilio, known as Mimì.
Its genuine cuisine did not take long to be appreciated, thanks in part to the restaurant’s strategic location in the heart of the city and close to transit routes.
Now in its third generation, it carries on with success and recognition the cuisine of the Neapolitan tradition with a hint of more refined novelties.
Among the culinary offerings you can try typical dishes from both land and sea such as eggplant parmigiana, crocchè di patate, anchovies ‘mbuttunate, pasta alla genovese, spaghetti with clams, fried cod and meatballs with meat sauce.

If you are looking for a restaurant where you can eat on the waterfront, I recommend one of the best restaurants in Naples by the sea: trattoria Antonio la Trippa, on Via Partenope.
Folklore and tradition hover in all the details of the restaurant, where there is a typically Neapolitan air of yesteryear with dishes and prints on the walls and tools and utensils of the past on display.
The cuisine is Neapolitan and homemade, with dishes served directly in the pan such as savoy cabbage soup, meatloaf, and sandwich with ricotta and cicoli.

In the neighborhood of Forcella, near the Napoli Centrale station, there is this historic osteria, established in 1947 that serves local food. Appetizers and seafood dishes are among the house specialties, all prepared in the Neapolitan tradition, with fresh, first-rate ingredients.
The restaurant also has a well-stocked wine list with some of the best wineries in Campania: white wine, red wine and sparkling wine.

Neapolitan cuisine is among the most varied in Italy, and in addition to have the best pizza, it offers a wide selection of land dishes and seafood specialties.
Here then are some of the best seafood restaurants to eat at in Naples!

Among the most famous Naples restaurants and among the most popular for fresh seafood cuisine. It is located in Marechiaro, in a beautiful sea-view location and is one of the city’s historic eateries, active since 1942.

Historic, family-run Neapolitan restaurant furnished with antiques, located near Piazza Borsa.
It serves pasta, pizza, and seafood dishes such as spaghetti with clams, roasted amberjack, salt cod, potato-crusted fillets of snapper, and more.

Palazzo Petrucci was the first Neapolitan restaurant to receive a Michelin star. It is located in a beautiful location, a historic palace on the beach of Sant’Anna in Posillipo but owes its name to its previous location, which was Palazzo Petrucci.
The restaurant offers traditional dishes reinterpreted with a modern twist, such as: seafood ragout or scampi crudo with friarielli centrifuge.

Clearly this is a nice restaurant with high prices, so maybe I recommend it for a special occasion, a romantic dinner or even if you are traveling alone and want to treat yourself with a unique gastronomic experience.
